Mens Artistic Gymnastics - all six apparatus pieces
I started in gymnastics at the age of 6 when my mum took me to our local leisure centre for gymnastics classes every Sunday for an hour and a half. I have been a member of the British national squad since the age of 8 and I am now a member of the TOP 2016 squad.
Having started my training in London clubs, in September 2007 I moved to Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone where I am coached by Ionut Trandaburu six days a week. I train around 25 hours per week and had to combine this with travelling from my home and
Ionut Trandaburu
My biggest achievements to date are being selected to represent my sport as a UK School Games Champion Ambassador after representing England at the UK School Games in Cardiff in September 2009 where I took the all around Gold individual medal, team gold, gold medal on rings and 3 further silver medals. I then represented Great Britain at the World School Games in Qatar in December 2009 where the team took the Bronze medal and i qualified for 2 aparatus finals. I have now been selected to the TOP 2016 National squad.
My hopes are to take part in the Junior Europeans and Commonwealth Games and ultimately to represent Great Britain in the Olympic Games.
My proudest moment was being chosen to compete for Great Britain at the age of 10 and appearing on the front cover of the Gymnast magazine in March 2009. Also receiving the Maidstone Youth Achievement Award for 2007 2008 and 2009.
Six days a week for approximately 30 hours. When I go to National squad training camps or abroad we usually train a minimum of 5 hours per day.
To receive sponsorship money would mean that I could go abroad with my club to the training camp that it holds for a week each year. The club also travels to Slovenia every April to take part in a competition. I have competed in this event for the last two years and have taken the individual gold medal both times. Annual fees for membership of the National squad have to be paid to cover the 5 training camps that are held around the country throughout the year. There are also monthly coaching fees, travel costs to compete at home and abroad and costs towards my gym equipment.
I am a hard working dedicated gymnasts who trains six days a week at Pegasus Gymnastics Club in Maidstone. To receive sponsorship would mean that I could be assured of attending the national training camps that are held around the country. Attendance at these camps is where I meet and train with my squad team and is vital for my continued progress and development. Funding would also mean that I could continue to compete at home and abroad where a good performance at these events is a requirement for continued membership of the national squad. I would be willing to take part in publicity events as required by any sponsor.
My hero is Louis Smith as he has done a lot to raise the profile of Men’s gymnastics and is a good role model for the sport
I would advise others who take part in sport to listen to their coach and support their team mates and to never give up but to keep trying their hardest
The thing I enjoy most about Gymnastics is competing and travelling around this country and abroad. Making friends in other countries and meeting World Class gymnasts.
Last year I received a donation from the Towergate partnership.
I have recently been selected to the TOP 2016 squad which means I will be attending more training camps at home and abroad and hopefully representing Great Britain at more competitions at International level.
