Second deal done and dusted

Trampolinist Georgina Varley has been jumping for joy at the news she is the third athlete to be given a cash injection as part of Maidstone’s Dream, a project set up by Maidstone council.

Georgina, 18, has been given a helping hand from Aylesford-based business PHSC plc.

The business, which provides health, safety and environmental solutions to clients across the UK, chose Georgina because of her work as a carer and for her passion to one day, become a fully qualified paramedic.

Georgina is head over heels at receiving the sponsorship money, saying: “I am very happy about being sponsored; it will help a lot with my training expenses.  My parents pay for all my training and competitions at the moment so this will help them out paying for it."

PHSC, who are the second company to sponsor an athlete, has given Georgina funding of £1,000 towards the costs of training and attending competitions to help her meet her dream of competing in the 2012 London Games.

Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Brian Moss, said: “This is fantastic news, we have secured our second sponsorship now and hopefully there will be more to come. This website has had a positive response and it is all to benefit our town’s athletes. I look forward to the future of the project.”

Georgina has recently been selected to represent her country at the World Championships in Russia this November.
